Why We're Not Currently Shipping to the EU

We're pausing EU orders while we work out if there is a cost-effective way to comply with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) as a micro-business.

Our packaging is already highly recycled and recyclable, and meets the material requirements. The blocker is yet another compliance overhead rather than the packaging itself: PPWR requires an EU-based authorised representative and separate registration across all 27 member states' extended producer responsibility schemes. For a business our size, that's not currently viable.

This follows a run of other EU changes we've already absorbed at our own cost: IOSS registration and the associated service costs, new import fees on all EU-bound orders, and GPSR (the EU's General Product Safety Regulation), each adding its own overhead to an already low-margin trade.

There are third-party services that handle PPWR compliance on a retailer's behalf, but at our order volumes the fees aren't sustainable against bookselling margins that have been shrinking with each new requirement as we've been forced to use similar services repeatedly.

We're not ruling out EU shipping in future — if a cost-effective route opens up, we'll take it. For now, orders are UK and other international non-EU only. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for understanding.
